Since 1970

A history of grit, garnet, and gold.

More than fifty years of FSU Rugby — the players, coaches, and matches that shaped the program.

Founded on the field

The Florida State University Rugby Football Club has called Tallahassee home since the early 1970s. What began as a handful of students looking for a hard, fast game grew into a fixture of southeastern collegiate rugby — a club that has weathered five decades of seasons, tours, and traditions.

A program built by players

FSU Rugby has always been student-run. Captains and presidents passed the kit and the responsibility down through generations, and alumni stayed close — coaching, sponsoring tours, and showing up on the touchline year after year.

The club has competed across the Southeast and traveled internationally on tour, with rosters that have produced All-Americans, USA Rugby selections, and (more importantly) lifelong friendships.

Garnet, gold, and grit

The colors are FSU's, but the identity is the club's own. From scrappy 8 a.m. practices on the IM fields to the bigger-stage matches at the Rec SportsPlex, the through line has always been the same: show up, work hard, take care of your mates, and represent the school with pride.
